LVV zinloos geweest? Niet voor Maylene!
Modern slavery is a menace that should be abolished. For a victim like me, it is hard to explain what one is passing through with the bad experiences in the hand of a bad employer. However, as a person, one still hopes for a better situation and future.
I became undocumented while my case is being appealed to the IND and the court. Gemeente Rotterdam invited me for an intake to be one of the LVV recepients. I am very grateful that through this program, Stichting Ros is able to provide me basic needs especially a shelter to live on. The shelter gave me comfort at difficult times when and where I felt my life is not going somewhere. Building my life by being provided a shelter meant a lot to me.
Every Wednesday I attend Dutch lesson. I join activities in the shelter and eat lunch together with other undocumented migrants. We are like one family.
I gained happiness and positive feelings that someday we can rise up again to start a new life in the Netherlands.
I stayed for eight months in the ROS until I finally received my residency permit from the IND. I do not know how to express as much my feelings when I heard this good news from my lawyer who fought hard to have justice for me. I am forever grateful to those who have helped me and have been part of my journey. Thank you.
